Ascent of Crapo Mountain on 2013-08-10
|Date:||Saturday, August 10, 2013|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||6885 ft / 2098 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe route to this peak also passes by the Devils Canyon Colossus, the worlds largest Incense Cedar which is the main reason for seeing this area, although Crapo is moderately prominent and has good views of Shasta and the Trinity Alps. See the Summitpost page for more info on where exactly to find it. There are more very large cedars in the upper basin and the open meadows provide a nice place to see such large trees as compared with the density of the nearby Redwoods. The summit itself involves some bushwacking and a bit of fun class 3+ on the large upper boulders.
