Ascent of Humphreys Peak on 2015-09-05
|Date:||Saturday, September 5, 2015|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||12633 ft / 3850 m|
Ascent Trip ReportCamped at Lockett Meadow campground (8500') northeast of peak. Nice campground, quiet. Dirt road access in great condition, starts directly across from Sunset Crater turnoff. Can climb Humphreys from there by starting at Inner Basin TH, 16mi rt. We drove around to the AZ Snow Bowl and climbed the usual route. Lots of people intermittently, but not as busy as Baldy on a holiday weekend (Labor Day Sat). Trail very green and nice. We got a window in the weather. Part of the time we were on top it was cloudy in one direction or another, but most of the time we could see a long ways any direction. Beautiful up there! Cold wind. A few sprinkles on the way down, but not torrential and no hail.
