Ascent Trip ReportThe road was bad enough (and steep enough) to require 4WD and high clearance, but as far as 4WD roads go, it was on the good (easy) side. Also, below the mountain, the road is better, but quite different from what's on the topo map. If approaching from the west on US 50, take the road marked by the sign "Earthquake fault" - that's quite good and direct until the turnoff for the road going up the mountain. The road going south-southwest from US 50 shown on the topo still exists and connects with that road, but has a rough wash crossing that would be impassable for vehicles without high clearance.
