Ascent Trip Report

According to the King County GIS mapping site with 5-foot LIDAR-derived contours, the high point on the huge flat expanse of Union Hill is in a forested glade just north of NE 70th Street at about where 263rd Ave NE would be. This is on the grounds of the Pegasus Equestrian Training and Rehabilitation Center, a gated 100-acre state-of-the art complex catering to the very wealthy horsey set.

I explored the area by bicycle to see if there was easy access, but the entire area is private property with lots of "No Trespassing" and gates. I did not get to the high point. One would have to get permission from Pegasus to enter their land, or else illegally stealth it.

The entrance to Pegasus is on 260th Ave NE, just south of NE 80th St. At this point NE 76th Street leads west to 259th Ave NE, but it is blocked by a massive heavy gate and walled as the entrance to an enclave of mansions.

I then tried to get to NE 70th St. from the south. From Union Hill Road I went north on 258th Ave NE, a partly-gravel road signed as private. At NE 67th Street, 258th continues north as a dirt road through forest, with a very clear sign stating "Private Land, No Trespassing". It appears that this road does go north 3 blocks to NE 70th Street, where one could theoretically turn right to the high point, barring any gates or walls. But I did not try it.
