Ascent Trip Report

This is a very unique peak. After taking the train from Taman Negara to the Perhentians we noted the gorgious limestone cliffs in this area and decided to hit it up on the way back. Good thing! We discovered there are thousands of caves in the region and we explored a few dozen on our own and hired a guide in Merapoh for some very special ones we would never have found on our own, in fact some were only disco vered in the last couple years. Anyways the cave is just above the train station, ask any local and they will know what you mean. The cave system itself is gorgiously lit from 3 giant openings and has a labrynth of passageways. It will take a couple hours to explore them all. Once you exit the far side entrance (super pretty BTW), you can climb out and up a faint trail up the mountain to the top where the resident Dusky leaf Monkeys are likely to be seen. Not a huge peak, but very unique way to get to the topand so I thought it deserved a mention.
