|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
|Peak:||Bearpen Mountain-Northwest Peak|
| Location:||USA-New York|
| Elevation:||3520 ft / 1072 m|
Ascent Trip ReportHot day during late season heat wave... probably low 90s at the base, upper 70s/low 80s at the summit, and humid. Parked at intersection of Greene Co Rd 2 and Ski Run Rd. Probably could've driven my truck the whole way up to the very short (approx. 500ft.) bushwhack to the true high point in Delaware County but figured that would be cheating. Quite well maintained for a secondary seasonal road, though there were a few algae-encrusted puddles on the road near the summit that probably never dry, since we haven't had a good rain in weeks and it's been warm. Side note: don't know why they call it Ski Run Rd, it would make a terrible ski run. I'd guess the steepest it gets during it's entire length is maybe 15-20 degrees, and that's only for short sections. It's dead flat or close to it for long stretches near the base and summit. That said, this would be an ideal hike for snowshoes or XC skis.
