Ascent Trip Report

John, Ashleigh, and I started the hike during light drizzle and fairly cool weather on Saturday. There was a forest fire in Glacier NP and we could smell the smoke that the SW Winds were blowing our way. It rained quite a bit around Forum Lake, but stopped when we ascended the ridge. There were only a few easy-to-navigate rock ledges on the way up to the ridge line. The wind was upwards of 50 km/h on the ridge. We made our way east, towards forum peak at first it was clear but once we started going to the peak some fog rolled in making visibility less than optimal. We could barely see past 10 meters and when we got to the edge of the peak, we could not find the massive cairn. According to our elevation we were at 2450m, so basically on the summit, near some trees.
