Ascent Trip ReportElbert from the southern TH. Road is fine, just need clearance. Didn't want to take the ford of the creek in a rental so I parked there, banged up the hill leaving the TH at 4:45/5, back off the hill 10:30. Steady consistent climb the whole way, easier than Katahdin and the northern Presidentials, but still the tallest peak in the Rockies, so take it seriously. Wear sunscreen and lip balm and bring a hat. |
