Ascent Trip ReportI used this address:
98 Sears Rd Stafford Springs, CT 06076
I drove up to the farm house and parked on the north side of the drive way. Wolf and I knocked at the door and a man answered. We asked if he minded if we hiked the tower road. He said no issues, feel free to hike. I then asked if it was ok to park by his driveway. He was also ok with that. We hiked up the hill and there was a sign warning people to stop or get shot. We continued on and found the "ower ->" sign referenced in the David Darby trip report. We hiked up to the tower and then continued on over it on some old access road that were overgrown. We made our way to the edge of the field to the West and followed it up to its South East corner where we found a ATV trail that looks like it was just cleared out. We followed it up to the top. We found one USGS benchmark beside a White sign. The benchmark had the number 1 on it and an arrow. We followed the arrow to the highpoint, but couldn't find the main marker. There is a ton of thorn bushes and viney under growth here. Without the ATV trail this hike would have been almost impossible without a machete. I recommend a hiking GPS and doing this hike in the Winter or spring before the undergrowth is full swing. The thorn bushes were everywhere on top of the main hill.
After we walked around and made our way to some large rocks that were the highpoints we backtracked to the open feild and followed its edge back to the farm house we asked for permission and avoided the tower road.
