Ascent Trip ReportLook Rock is an easy point to reach from the Foothills Parkway. The main draw is a large observation tower near the summit, which offers very nice views in most directions, though there are some trees in the way to the northeast and east.
Starting from a large parking area, a paved trail heads generally north to gain the ridge, then turns WSW to head toward the highest ground. The actual high point of Look Rock (N35.63316 W83.94211) is located on some exposed rocks just north of the trail, just west of the air quality station, and just east of the observation tower.
The hike from the parking lot to the summit is about 0.3 miles, with another tenth of a mile to the observation tower. Elevation gain is about 170 feet. |
