Ascent Trip Report

My wife and I picniced at Hopewell Lake and then headed a bit up the road (west) to the next forest rd. on the right. This is gated until late July because of Elk calving.I did the short hike up Jawbone from the gated end of the road. I followed the road for about a quarter mile then headed towards the peak. Much of the way is a series of narrow meadows until you get close to the rocky top. Nice views to the east. And the elk are really here. i saw a small herd of females and a solitary male with enormous antlers.
