Ascent Trip Report

Hike 7 = Moose Mountain South Peak: 1:15 pm. We parked on 3 mile road a bit short of the AT crossing and took the side trail up to the AT. We ended up running a fair amount of this as the trail was in great shape and the day although warm was dry and the breeze made it comfortable. We climbed 1048’ in 2.2 miles and topped out with a great view on the top at 2292’. One hiker and his infant were on top and soon we were joined by half a dozen thru-hikers. We spent a few minutes chatting, then kicked around on the top to find the highest point. The run/hike down was pleasant and we stayed on the AT to 3 mile road and then trotted back to the car. In all we covered 4 miles in 1:19:47 between 1375’ and 2292’.
