Ascent Trip Report This was the famous HPS Waterman Rendezvous held every July. This year, we had 3 separate hikes meeting up on the summit of Waterman where we shared food and stories. I saw a lot of old friends. It is also a great hike. Our hike started at Cloudburst Summit. When you are facing the mountain, the use trail starts to the right, next to a sign for the PCT. It is a pretty well worn use trail, fairly easy to follow. It comes out where the ski lift comes to the top at 7700’. Interestingly enough the lift was running. First time I have ever seen it running. The owners have built several lodges where you can spend the night. The lift only cost $15 round trip. I think they only run on weekends. At this point follow a road almost to end where you will see a use trail heading left (east) to the summit of Waterman. After the potluck, we started down the trail to the Waterman BM. It is east of Waterman about ½ mile. The BM is a little confusing to find. There are two BM in a saddle between two rocky outcrops, not where you normally expect to find BM’s. From there, we cross country down to the trail, and came out at the Buckhorn Campground. We had arranged for car shuttles back to Cloudburst Summit, about 1 mile up the road.
