Ascent Trip Report

We hiked in to September Morn Lake, day one and camped. We took the trail up to Sundance Pass and left the trail for both summits of Silver Run, day 2. Day 3 we climbed Mount Lockhart and Whitetail Peak. Lockhart from the Sundance Pass was mostly class 2 bouldering with a few sections of class 3 scrambling. From Lockhart we pushed on to summit Whitetail. I have to be honest; from Sundance Pass looking up to Whitetail, it looks like class 4 & 5. It's very intimidating. As you climb and get closer you see it isn't near as difficult as it looks from a distance. Mostly class 2 & 3 bouldering and little exposure until the last 50 feet. From that notch to the summit is class 3 with exposure, and one or two class 4 maneuvers. Great views from the summit.
