Ascent Trip Report

Climbed with my brother. A rather misty, but beautiful morning. We fooled around visiting a few waterfalls along the Amphibrach trail and then realized that we still had substantial elevation gain left. Took the King Ravine, which was fairly steep and tired us out a bit, so we decided to skip the Subway trail and try the Great Gully trail. There was a felt tip drawing on the trail sign of an exhausted looking hiker and the words "steep" with a black diamond, but we ignored this. Thus became the hike a bit more epic, as it was wet, and the "trail" is more like going up lots of slippery rocks with occasional paint marks. I was really glad we weren't trying to go down it. We had to hand our backpacks up a couple times because it was impossible to get up while wearing them. My brother slipped and banged his shin up pretty good, but we soldiered on and eventually reached the rock field that is the bottom of Mt Adams, where we sauntered over to the top of Mt Sam Adams, before continuing to the top of Mt Adams. Great but exhausting climb!
