Ascent Trip Report

We went up the trail along the east fork of the Red River and then turned onto the trail up to Sawmill Park, a large high mountain meadow below Taos Cone. It's a gentle ascent with easy footing. THe trail takes a very large dogleg. I bushwhacked that on th return (along with Corinne--everyone else took the long way back). Lots of deadfall to clamber across but nearly a mile shorter.
