Ascent Trip Report

After sleeping at the trailhead, I left the TH just before 0700. It took me 2.25 hours to get to Colchuck Lake at around 6000 feet. Refilled on H2O and was back on my way by the 3 hour mark. Then it was a slight scramble around the lake to the Aasgard slope. Aasgard is about a class 2 scramble. Well marked route mostly on talus. Barely used my hands. Easy though long. Both disappointed and impressed that I got passed by a woman wearing Nike frees. Not at all my ideal hiking shoe, but whatever floats her boat. She didn't seem to struggle the slightest. Made it to the top in about 2 hours. Then began my trek to the top of Little Annapurna. It was an easy walk up, with few obstacles. Made it up in 45 minutes including a stop to eat lunch. Began my way back at 7 hours in. Along the way, I saw many mountain goats including a few kids. Also saw a few friendly marmots. At the top of Aasgard I ran into a couple people from work and made my way back to the Lake Stuart trail enjoying their company. Aasgard was an easy, though tough on the knees descent. Made it back to the car just past 12 hours in and a little before 1900.

It was an all in all good day. Long, but enjoyable. The Enchantments are a bit busy for my taste, but the views more than make up for it. Was able to get a nice view of Mt. Rainier and would have had a decent view of Adams it it was a little more clear. I can definitely go back and climb 3 or 4 other Bulgers in the area if I have enough time.
