Ascent Trip ReportFollowed a nice track to the old Goûter hut where we took off crampons and then down climbed a steep trail along the Grand Couloir. Saw a big rock fall from the trail. When time for our passage of the couloir, we walked fast across, but in the middle, a new rock fall occurred and we stopped very shortly, the let the rocks pass just around us, before almost running across the last part, to safety. Very scary, luckily no one was hit.
Packed the rope and hiked to the Tête Rousse hut for lunch. Hiked further down to the Nid d'Aigle train station for travel down the mountain. We made a hotel reservation in Saint Gervais while we waited for train to depart. Kris left the train at Bellevue to get the ski lift to Les Houches and back home. Per and us went to Saint Gervais to find the hotel. We checked in and had a beer when Per went to get the car. We got our stuff and Per left. Shower and unpack and later dinner with steak. A great firework to celebrate the 14th of July, before dying at 10:30. |
