Ascent Trip Report

After climbing Halti, we set off for Sweden and the last high point of our EURO 48 project. We reached Nikkaluokta at lunch time and, after a quick cup of tea, started the 19km hike to the Kebnekaise fjällstation. Initially, we had planned to sleep the night at the fjällstation and set off at 6 or 7am the following morning. However, at dinner we learned that there were quite a few other people planning the same thing. So after a hot meal and a few hours rest we headed off up the west route in the midnight sun. Although it was a long day, and the west route is not the most enjoyable, we had the entire mountain and final summit to ourselves. It was a fitting end to what has taken us 4 years and 4 months to complete. Now onto the next project!
