Ascent Trip ReportOn our way home back south after a few days in the Far North we were lured over to the West Coast by a falsely optimistic weather forecast.
Unfortunately cloud level was barely above the loch with persistent rain and strong gusty wind. We approached the saddle via the well constructed east-about path and after a few variable route choices (mistakenly traversing on the south-side rather than north-side of the main ridgeline) and some moderate scrambling arrived at the false western summit. Visibility so poor that we couldn't even see the true summit from there. Ill-prepared and unsure of the best way to get past the final rocky tower and thence up to the highest point, the wind intensifying yet further and our spectacles coated with water, we decided to retreat and return in more favourable conditions and with better route information. |
