Ascent of Ingalls Peak on 2015-06-19
|Date:||Friday, June 19, 2015|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||7662 ft / 2335 m|
Ascent Trip ReportGroup of 3 rope teams. Left trailhead at 4:40am. Reached Ingalls pass at 6:20am. Trail completely uncovered by snow up to the junction where we break left up the slope to avoid going to the lake. Several mountain goats found on the trail in the valley. No crampons or ice axe required, but poles were helpful on some short and not-to-steep snow traverses. Reached base of the climb about 8am. Climbed from the south side of the dogs teeth. Conditions were windy and foggy until we were rapping down. First pitch up the scramble and slab up past first rap station to the next slab where we built gear anchors. Second pitch relatively short up to the ledge not quite to the bolted rap station. Third to the bolts at the top. Unroped scramble to the summit was relatively easy for all despite wind. Did 4 rapps down the way we came, all from existing rap stations. Last rap is quite a reach even for 70m rope, so you end up on the scramble at the beginning of pitch 1. Base of the climb by 1:30pm. Reached trailhead about 5:20pm; more goats on the trail even in a meadow just south of Ingalls Pass.
