Ascent of Babbitt Peak on 2015-06-15
|Date:||Monday, June 15, 2015|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||8760 ft / 2670 m|
Ascent Trip ReportMy wife and I drove in from I-80 and followed the directions found on the summitpost page. The road up to the lookout was in good shape and we were treated to a flower show of Balsam Roots in one of the meadows along the lookout road. We met Dick Ellsworth as he was driving down in a sedan (driving carefully he said) and had a nice chat with him for about 20 minutes. For those of you who may not know him, he is one of the most prolific county highpointers and also chases after the most prominent peak in a county as well and he was here on Babbitt as it is the most prominent peak (has the most prominence) in the county.
We continued on to the lookout and I made my way up to the near the lookout and said hello to the nice person who was manning the lookout that day. I made my way over to the highest spot, took some pictures and then made my way up to the lookout itself where I was treated to outstanding views of the area from the lookout. Thanks to Shelly for being such a nice hostess. Thanks also for what you do.
