Ascent Trip Report

Wanted to make this a bit of a hike and get some exercise but parking was an issue. I wanted to start at the Colorado River and that was not going to happen with all the no parking and we will tow you signs. I found a turn out along Westlake Drive and it was downhill of the main drag called Westlake Pass. I parked and ran down towards the river and got as close as I could get without risking trespassing and then jogged up to Westlake Pass. Turned left and hiked along this busy road with no shoulders...yuck...then the road that goes up Mount Larson. That road was nice and steep and not busy. Many workers were building more houses and walls and things to keep people out so I fit in nicely with my boots and headed up hill. There are some nice views off to the left and at the summit of the neighborhood a fence with no trespassing closed to the radio tower but as the other reports mentioned, there is an obvious work around to the left, follow the trail and no fence and then the summit is yours. There were vans with workers up on the peak, so I avoided any potential discussion by tagging the peak and summarily jogging right back off the top, around the fence and all the way down the hill and back to my car. I passed several folks walking their dogs and several high end cars leaving their mountain homes. I was sure to nod and wave and compliment each dog that passed now hoping to look like a morning jogger (with boots?) instead of a construction worker

Ha!
