Ascent Trip Report

The trail from Mount Pinos to Sawmill starts out with ridiculous switchbacks (almost no descent over the first quarter mile), after that it takes a more moderate grade until the last stretch which is quite steep. The moderate switchbacks are more appreciated on the return when hiking up. After hiking most of the way up Sawmill, the trail splits where the through trail continues on the left while a spur (unsigned) goes off to the right to the summit.

From the summit, one can easily see the west summit. We easily hiked over it on our way back (it added only .3 miles and 50 vertical feet).
