Ascent Trip ReportOn way to airport, Karen dropped me off at the intersection of Mountain Drive and Ridge Road and began my urban "ascent"....I was still dressed in nice clothes and did not want to get too sweaty having to fly back to FL in 3 hours but we had limited time to get to Baltimore Airport and I wanted to earn the peak and not drive up. So I hiked up this very steep and winding mountain road past a bunch of mountain homes up to the summit. At the summit my wife awaited me in our rental car. You can walk around the gate easily and finish the hike up the last part to the obvious summit in between the water tank and towers. There is actually a nice view of this small mountain with over 1000 feet of prominence down the power line. The 1.3 mile ascent took 23 minutes to gain 700 feet or about 3.4 miles/hour. I hiked back down to the car and off to the airport. All of the roads were paved and in good condition. Fortunately, my pace was just about right and barely broke much of a sweat.
