Ascent Trip Report

Drove to the starting point bright & early & waited for the rangers to come & open the gate. As it was in the middle of the hot season the trail was closed after 8am - no-one could begin their hike after that time. I was first to make it to the summit that day - under half an hour's climb, it was very steep at the start, I used the chain to pull myself upwards. It was HOT, as February days in the middle of Australia tend to be.

Spectacular view from the top, desolate outback as far as the eye could see, as well as Kata Tjuta in the distance. Incredibly beautiful.

It is mentioned everywhere that the local aborigines do not like to see people hike up as Uluru is sacred & the route up crosses a spirit path or something, but I couldn't NOT climb it. Very glad I did.
