Ascent Trip Report

Don't waste your time at the main entrance. These developments in the Poconos have had many problems in recent years with criminal activity, and will not let you in without permission from a resident. From the junction of PA 196/423, drive south about 1/2 mile to where the yellow-gated Overlook Road heads east and the yellow-gated Millwood Drive heads west. This is also about 1/2 mile north of the main entrance on 196. Plenty of room to park on the Millwood side of 196. Walk up Overlook until you pass Skyview Terrace on the right. Immediately ahead on the left is a yellow fire hydrant and above it is a utility (sewer) easement that leads uphill between two private homes. This follows the path of the road (Highview) shown on the topo of which the bottom part does not exist. In just a few seconds you reach the west end of Highview with the water tank in plain view ahead on the right. If you work your way around on the existing streets rather than take the short cut, it adds almost another mile of road walking, so go for it! Walk around the tank fence until satisfied. I should add that no one gave me a second glance while i was walking the streets, in fact I exchanged greetings with several people.
