Ascent Trip ReportI parked at the horse park area at the Cheyenne/Cliffs Shadows Pkwy intersection area. I walked past Cheyenne Peak which was to my north and then crossed the unfinished housing development area aiming SW for the corner base area of the end section of the small outcrop/range that incorporates into Summerlin Peak. There's a faint trail there that circles around the SW side of Summerlin Peak and eventually merges into a wash. I followed the wash several times admiring Summerlin Peak and Damsel Peak along the way. The wash meets a canyon and gully that is situated in between Gottlieb and Summerlin Peaks and/or Mt. Woody, I believe it's called. I climbed the gully staying mostly on the left side of it up to the saddle area. The gully is fairly steep and rocky hear and there, but to me, there was only 1 tough or tricky area about 3/4 of the way up. I zig-zagged in this area and it was pretty manageable. At the saddle, you turn left and go straight up another fairly steep but easily climbable incline. You know there's a false summit at the top of this incline, but it takes a while to get there. Then, it's an easy walk and mild climb up to the true summit from the false summit. I took the same route back. Neat hike for one that doesn't seem to be heavily traveled.
