Ascent Trip ReportThere is a fantastic trail that is not a trail. The land managers (DNR) have closed this now-not-a-trail-trail because of to much erosion along the creek. This is probably a good thing. The trail however really is a blast. It is unbelievably steep in sections (way steepr than Mailbox) and in the winter the upper spur ridge is a quiet, mystical palce to be. High up on the mountain one even has the opportunity for real snow climbing. There is a 100', 50 degree stretch of snow that is easily circumvented...or not. |
