From the intersection of US 30 and Ohio 598 north of Galion, drive south on OH 598. In about 2 miles, you will be joined by OH 309 in Galion, OH. Continue about 2.5mi further, and turnright (west) onto Morrow County Road 31. In about 2mi, you will cross a railroad track into Marion County, and you will see the name change to Hurr Road. Soon you cross OH 100, and a bit further you will see the target field on the left. I continued to 9505 Hurr Road to seek permission to enter their field and investigate the highest areas.

I knocked at the door, but no one answered. So I got in my car and returned to Hurr Road. I found a place to park, about due north of the high ground near the fence line shown on the topo. I found a spot in the fence that was fallen down from disrepair, and I crossed into the field. I headed south to the ridgeline, and I wandered around the majority of the contour. I crossed a fence to enter the field to the south. It was in this area that I thought contained the highest land of all.

I then crossed another fence to visit the remaining part of the contour that was east of the second fence. I wandered around and continued heading further east along the ridgeline. Soon, I saw a man on a 4-wheeler. He had seen me, and he came to check me out. “Whatcha doin’?” was his introduction. I explained my HP quest and showed him my maps. I told him I had done all I came to see, and was about to return to my car. He informed me that the eastern property was owned (by him), and the western property (9505 Hurr) was rented. He was not difficult to talk to; satisfied, he drove away without further incident. I hiked back to my car, and I noted a person in the back yard of the man’s property. The person was watching me. They watched as I drove away. I found a place a few miles away to stop and draft a few notes about the visit.
