Ascent Trip Report

This would be my second county ascent of the day. I parked at the dead end of North Stump Tavern Rd.. There was a dirt road that continued into the forested area in the direction I wanted to go. there was newly cleared land to the west, where it appeared a new housing development is imminent. As I locked my car to depart, the homeowner on the corner came over to warn me that there was a ton of hunters in the woods, and that it was open shotgun season on deer, and that I had better be careful. He mentioned that hunters had been "going in there" all day long. I was slightly taken aback by his genuine concern, and also quite surprised it would be so active this close to houses. I told him I was not going in to far, and that I would stick to the dirt road and that I should be OK.(I was quietly kicking myself in the ass for not bringing any blaze orange, but it would have tipped off the wife I was going into the woods, not xmas shopping) I did hear quite a few gunshots, but none were too close.
After a brief dirt road walk (with empty beer cans lining the entire route)-sad, My GPS took me up a hill in the NNE direction where I found even more trash and debris, along with alot of burnt wood and motorcycle/ATC tracks. This was apparently a popular party area. I locked in on the coordinates - again a bit off, but no where in the area appeared to be higher, so success! county high point #2 on the day.
Next day: Last night I learned that if there were multiple sites in contention for a county high point, one must visit them all to "claim" the booty of bagging the high point. Looks like I havfe another cisti ti the area in my future. Will update.
