Ascent Trip Report

We parked in the long turnout above the peak on Hwy 26, but a better approach is from a lower turnout adjacent to the peak, just down from the Laurel Hill historical sign and parking area which is found on the other (south) side of the highway. Note that the Hwy 26 widening project may affect the lower turnout. From the turnout is a trail that leads north-east to a better trail that parallels the highway. The better trail slowly gains elevation (westbound) as it skirts the hill. At the crest of the trail is a wood fence that cordons off what appears to be an abandoned mine. From this point head straight up through the forest. Undergrowth is light and travel is easy. At the ridge, turn west for a short distance to the summit. There are two summit outcrops about 75 feet apart. We tagged both of them as we could not tell which was higher. Views are very limited.
