Ascent Trip ReportWith melt & freeze weather, I waited for a cold night hoping for hard-packed trails with otherwise strong crusts in remoter areas away from snowmobile packed roads (evidence of deep walking postholes during earlier warm weather), conditions which allowed for mostly quick walking with ski poles and microspikes on, Eagles Cliff offers awesome expansive views from dry rock southwestward even out to NYC spires while Frog Hill looks northeastward down out to the Hudson River, the Chatfield Hill Fire Tower seen from Spy Rock (and earlier, further from Rattlesnake Hill) looks so inviting but reached is closed with its wooden landings and steps looking rotted if intact (lunch on bottom steps), up to what must be enormous guarding views above Black Forest's mid-section.
