Ascent Trip Report

Brian & I had been wanting to do Washington for the last 3 w/e .....2 wks ago we thought it too cold & last w/e we rested ....Did it today smile emoticon
Not the best day but I heard the winds were going to be diminishing ...Yea right on Washington LOL .We started at 8:30 on the Ammo tr (boy is it steep LOL) with snowshoes on under cloudy skies but clouds were high so we could see the summit at times on our way up .Got to the hut & we still could see the towers on the summit .Changed over to crampons & started our hike up .we looked to S/E & the skies were black .Then the clouds came in & that's the last time we saw the summit till we were 200' from it
At the summit we met a bunch of people that had come up Lions Head & were told over 100 people coming up that way ....WOW
We layered up for our decent on the Jewell Tr. Wow the winds were really picking up ...At one point I stopped & got a reading of 30mph & by the time we hit around Mt Clay I say they were 40mph as both Brian & I were getting blown around. We both fell in a spruce trap up to our waist when we lost the trail ...Finally got to treeline ate & back at the truck in 8hrs 6 min 8.4 miles ..

What a blast & an adventure
