Ascent of Mount Tule on 2015-03-08Others in Party: | Shelly Britton ----Only Party on Mountain | Date: | Sunday, March 8, 2015 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | 4x4 Vehicle | Peak: | Mount Tule | Location: | USA-California | Elevation: | 4647 ft / 1416 m |
Ascent Trip ReportDrove to the end of the dirt road from the north and hiked up from there. Lots of black tourmaline in the rocks on the summit. Found the register and the location of the missing triangulation station benchmark. Reference marks no. 1 and no. 2 were still intact and in good condition though spelled incorrectly as "Tulle". Using the data sheets and a utility program called "forward", calculated the approximate coordinates of the Azimuth mark which is also Reference mark No. 3. Set off X-C down the steep West flank of Mt. Tule and found the Azimuth mark about 0.5 mile West on a rocky knoll at N32.70085 W116.23616.
