Ascent Trip Report

Today’s two-part relay hike was sponsored by the Contra Costa Chapter of the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Hike #1 led by Neil Kaplan was a 4.5-mile segment from Inspiration Point in Tilden Regional Park along Nimitz Way, over Wildcat Peak and down the Eagle’s Nest Tr to the San Pablo Reservoir and Kennedy Grove. Don de Fremery, veteran Sierra Club leader, led a large group of over 60 hikers on the second 5.5 mile segment, first over the recently constructed Sobrante Ridge Tr from Conestoga Way off Castro Ranch Rd and down to Pinole Valley Rd. Then on circling on ranch road over EBMUD land along the Pinole Ridge (Hercules Peak) and ending at Alhambra Valley Rd. Car shuttles made all this possible.
