Ascent Trip Report

On my way to JFK to fly south for a vacation. High point is right in Bennett Park in the Washington Heights neighborhood. Got off the subway at 181st Street. Rock outcrop at the high point was a little bit icy but not too bad. A few people around walking their dogs and drinking their coffees and staring at their phones and screaming into their Bluetooths... you know, the things upper Manhattanites do on a chilly Thursday morning. There's a cool history to the area if you walk around and check out the plaques... apparently the park was once a fort known as Fort Washington which was successfully defended from the British during the Revolution.
