Ascent Trip ReportWalked length of Loggerhead Key during a 3 day 2 night visit to the Dry Tortugas with a commercial birding touring company (Wings, Inc. Highly recommended). This was before the big hurricane strike, so the island was still densely crowded with Australian pines.
The Dry Tortugas are one of the 10 best birding sites in the U.s. I life-listed there the following: masked booby, purple gallinule (in a circular staircase at the fort!), black noddy, gray kingbird, gray-cheeked thrush, black-whiskered vireo. Tennessee warbler, shiny cowbird. Also many green sea turtles, loggerhead turtles, dolphins, flying fish, barracudas
