Ascent Trip ReportI drove to the access road, which starts on Isaac Miller Road, just east of Adams Street. However, in addition to two "beware of dog" signs, there was also a "no trespassing" sign at the start of the gated access road. Rather than knocking on doors, I looked for other approaches. I went north a bit on Adams Street, and after passing by a few houses I noticed a promising entry point. There was a wide path leading to a clearing, with tracks in the snow heading toward Fay Mountain, and no signage saying to keep out. I had to park a quarter-mile north of that point, on Mountain View Drive, because the deep snowbanks on Isaac Miller Road and Adams Street made parking impossible.
From parking, I followed Adams Street south to the entry point, and proceeded through a meadow along existing tracks generally east-southeast. I was wishing I had my snowshoes in some of the drifted spots, but I didn't think I'd be doing any real hiking today while visiting this hill and two other locally-prominent suburban summits. Lesson learned. I continued through some woods along a fenceline (scaring away a half-dozen deer), and then through another meadow. I went through woods again for the final push to the fenced-in towers at the top.
Nice view looking west from the large meadow which is just north of the summit. The topo map says "Lookout Tower", although there is no longer a fire tower on Fay Mountain.
