Ascent Trip Report

Trip with AOC on a gorgeous winter day. Hiked from Jacks Gap. Summited via the north ridge off the AT. It gets VERY thick at times but in the winter you can just push through it while covering your eyes. Kinda fun actually. Probably very difficult in the growing season. After lunch, descended down the east side to the AT. Also, a lot of fun to almost run down. Not nearly as thick but much steeper. On the way back we went around Jacks Knob to the east (requiring a bushwhack on the northern face) but on the way I ascended solo to nearly the top...I had to stay within visible distance of the group. Ran back to the gap after getting back on the main trial.
