Ascent Trip ReportThis was a fun hike all around.
A couple lessons were learned though 1. If taking the wash route, when cairns indicate to leave the wash, keep ascending above where the cairns stop- eventually you will come to a nice trail- follow it- it may not the most direct, but it usually has very good footing. 2. The ridge route may have a better trail- the trail on the wash route ended into a more substantial trail which we guess was from the ridge route.
The route up Corkscrew was fairly easy (class 2 max, usually class 1). The route down the ridge to Little Corkscrew was similar (though it looked like it would be much worse). Beyond the saddle there was a use trail which we abandoned after a while to walk down the ridge. |
