Ascent Trip ReportNate wanted to do SOTA - so he thought Whale peak would be a great training hike for getting back into shape. The route was slightly more difficult than we remembered…. BUT we still had a blast. Approx 9 miles and we were out for just under 5 hours. He had 24 SOTA contacts in 1:02 on the summit. LOTS of ducks leading the wrong way… but luckily once we spotted the meadow, we knew we were close and found our way. Good hike - lots of fun bouldering that kept us both on our toes. Fun to spend a day in Anza Borrego Desert State Park!
