Ascent Trip Report

Solo hike - Originally I just wanted to get out and do an easy hike up to San Gorgonio via Vivian Creek - but plans changed when I got the last Viv Creek permit and the couple behind me in line really wanted it. My backup plan was to hike Forsee Creek and then chill out along the SB Divide Trail for as long as the daylight would allow. Got a Forsee Creek Permit and decided that with the amount of daylight left, I would have to turn around exactly 5 hours into the hike (by 1:45 pm). I ended up making great time and reached the summit of San G in approx 4:35. I worked HARD and made great time - felt good. Took a 5-minute summit break and made great time on the way down. HARDEST part of the hike was climbing out of Dollar Lake Saddle to the Forsee Creek turn-off. My legs wanted to die and I broke my rule of not taking a break…. just reminded myself that its OK to slow down - and I went down to a more reasonable pace of 3 mp. But I did it! 31-ish miles in 8:40 total hike time. Great hike - epic in a lot of ways. Thought of Nate, Tabbs & the SK on the summit.
