Ascent Trip Report

I most likely first 'climbed' Holt Hill in 1990, when my parents would have taken me up there in a baby backpack. Since then, I've returned probably over a hundred times in all seasons and weather conditions, under my own power ever since I learned how to walk. It will always be a special place to me, as it is really where I learned to love hiking from a very young age. We'd take family walks up there as kids, I'd hang out on top with friends in middle school and high school, and have even gotten special permission to summit late at night on a beautiful clear night which allowed for amazing views of the lit-up Boston skyline. Every time I visit my parents in Andover, I make a point to take the pilgrimage to Ward Reservation to get in touch with the root of my love for the outdoors. It may not be much, but Holt Hill is a great little hill to have grown up right down the road from, and hey, I guess I got my first county high point when I was a baby. So yeah, this hill will always hold a special place in my heart.
