Ascent Trip Report

Began at the Soldier Creek Trail head and hiked to the saddle northwest of Robinson Lake. This saddle is overlooking the Cold Creek drainage. Followed game trails to Cold Lakes and fly fished for rainbow trout in both lakes. Enjoyed a scrumptious trout dinner and hiked to the Old Man of The Mountain outcrop the next day.
This hike could be done in one day by following the ridge west from the saddle to a point above the lakes and just below the outcrop. Climb toward the highpoint.
This is a beautiful and somewhat isolated area of the Ruby Mountains with some unusual rock formations that are visible from the Lamoille Highway and surrounding areas.
