Ascent Trip ReportCoHP – HURON COUNTY, OHIO
2 candidates in 1 contour in a farm field just north of the Richland County line
I followed the Bob Schwab trip report to this easy farm county. The field has not moved; Bob’s report will get you there fine. I cannot provide good driving instructions because this dyslexic HP’er transposed two digits when he entered the coordinates into his GPS. Thankfully, I was only about 4 miles away when I discovered the error!
Note that Baseline Road is also the Huron – Richland County Line Road.
From the intersection of Baseline Road with Olivesburg-Fitchville Road, I drove north on the latter and crested the road. I traveled 0.2mi from the intersection and parked just off the road. From this spot, I hiked into the field toward the nearest high spot, which was straight toward a large oak tree on the opposite side of the field. I wandered around and quickly satisfied myself that I had crossed the high ground.
From here, I turned my attention southeast and visited the second contour. My visual impressions were that the northernmost contour was higher.
