Ascent Trip ReportDayana and I slept in the car Friday night after getting in around 1:30am. After a few hours of sleep, we got up and packed our bags. The plan was to meet Brad around 7am at the trailhead but not wait for him if we don't see him. We started down the trail at 6:45am. Knowing that Brad would be trying to catch up we didn't push the pace and took some time to enjoy our first snow covered views of the season. Since Dayana had never been through Avalanche Pass and Lake Colden area we decided to take that route rather than Lake Arnold. That area is still one of my favorite places in the Adirondacks. Shortly after passing by the ladders, we were enjoying the views of the Trap Dike when Brad appeared out of nowhere. Two strangers who were standing there enjoying the views asked "You guys just randomly ran in to someone you know out here?" To which Brad answered "I live out here". We never did explain that we planned to meet up on the trail, haha. Need to finish the report. |
