Ascent Trip Report

After hitting Everest Base Camp in the morning, Gorak Shep for lunch, we topped out on Kala Pathar in under an hour from Gorak Shep. Snow fell two mornings before and still covered the entire scene with fresh powder on the sunny day. Amazing views from this spot (I have a hard time calling it a peak due to the prominence to Pumori which towers above it). Great hike to view Everest and to get away from the crowds solely going to EBC. Also a good scouting spot for anyone shooting for Pumori, Nuptse, or even Ama Dablam along the way. GPX file shows more detail of the route/acclimatization hikes along the way.
