Ascent Trip ReportI managed to squeeze in a pre-winter, pre-flight Grays-Torreys peakbagging trip. After hitting the Grays summit, I bounded down the lightly snow covered trail through the saddle to Torreys. The wind was pretty brutal, but the beautiful blue sky and the bright sun easily made up for it and made for some really beautiful fall weather. Once I started up Torreys, the wind died down and I was back to grinding up the trail. It took about 30 minutes to cover slightly less than a mile between the peaks, which includes 540ish vertical feet.
On the way back down the trail, I took the cutoff back to the Grays trail. It had a lot more snow cover and made for a slightly more slippery trek without spikes of any sort. After crossing that slope, I stomped my way back to the car as efficiently as possible and headed back to Denver for a quick lunch and my afternoon flight to Atlanta :)
