Ascent Trip ReportYou will see a lot of history if you visit all 9 possibilities in Edgefield County, the home of 10 governors. LiDAR says the highest point is behind the water tank at spot elevation 677. This is on McDaniel Drive, a dirt road that runs southwest from US25/Augusta Hwy south of Edgefield. This is one case where the LiDAR elevation 677.4782 verifies the old USGS spot elevation of 677.
However, I wouldn't rule out spot elevation 678, which is behind an old farmhouse on SC23 northeast of the town of Johnston. |
LiDAR says the Edgefield SC COHP is behind this water tower on McDaniel Drive off US25/Augusta Road south of the town of Edgefield. I wouldn't rule out spot elevation 678 near Johnston and maybe other areas. (2014-10-20). Photo by Tom Layton.
